Boarding School of Ben Shemen

The Ben Shemen Boarding school serves students from the age of 6 to 18.
A HOME FOR THE VERY YOUNG
Ben Shemen's unique program is designed for children from the first grade upwards. The children at the elementary level, ages 6 to 12, are sent to ben Shemen under the auspices of the ministry of social welfare. The Youth Village offers a home to those children who, for various reasons, are not able to live in a natural family setting. Together they compose the "children's society" of 60 children. These children are in need of an encouraging educational atmosphere. By providing them with an enriched environment, they are given the opportunity to realize their potential.
Ben Shemen offers a long-range substitute home for these children until they graduate and enter the army.
A HOME FOR THE YOUTH
Ben Shemen's program for the youth, is open for students age 12-18 at middle and high school level, who choose to come and study at the village. these students are required to pass admission exams, and interviews.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITES
The students' personal interest are cultivated by the many extra-curricular activities and clubs made available to them. Sports, music, dance, art and drama are all part of the enrichment program, which offers the student the opportunity to realize his potential.
Ben Shemen is proud of its traditional Music ensembles and Choral Groups. Outing to theatrical and musical performances are incorporated in the yearly program. Trips throughout Israel encourage knowledge and love of the country. Basketballs, soccer, volleyball, as well as other sport teams, participate in inter-high school competitions. This year we added a new Ethiopian athletic group.
Shabbat and all the Jewish holidays are jointly celebrate by the village community.
A CARING STAFF
The professional staffs of teachers, counselors, house mothers, social workers, psychologists and medical personnel serve the individual needs of the children.
Each group of children in residence is under the care of a house mother and counselor, who fulfill the role of surrogate parents.
The children visit their homes every two weeks and on holidays. All of the counseling staff, as well as most of the teaching faculty, live on the premises of the youth village.
