Dr. Ilana Tischler

Director General

Dr. Ilana Tichler has been the Director General of the Ben Shemen Youth Village since 2008.  She holds a doctorate in Educational Policy and Leadership from Ohio State University.  Dr. Tischler served as the Director of the Tarbut Jewish Day School in Mexico City from 2005-8 and as a community shlicha in Columbus, Ohio 1998-2001.  In Israel, she worked as a school principal and as a lecturer for training principals at the Seminar Hakibutzim and at Givat Washington. 
As a volunteer, Dr. Tischler served as the Chairperson of the Cincinnati – Netanya Partnership 2000 and today is the Chairperson of the Maccabi Dan Acro-gymnastics Club.

Mr. Avi Sherer

Director Boarding Education

Mr. Avi Sherer assumed the position of Director of Boarding Education in 2018.  Previous to that he held the position of Farm Coordinator since 2002.  Mr. Shere holds a BA and Teaching Certificate in Agriculture and Environmental Studies from Beit Berel College. He also teaches 11th and 12th graders agriculture in preparation for their matriculation exams.  Previously he was a member of Kibbutz Afek, where he was the dairy coordinator and kibbutz secretary as well as a counselor for boys in 10th to 12th grades.

Dr. Oshra Alfasi

Principal, Einstein High School

Ms. Oshra Alfasi began her position as principal of the Einstein High School in September 2013.  Ms. Alfasi holds a doctorate in Philosophy from Bar Ilan University, and a BA in Education and Literature and MA in Education from Hebrew University. She is also a graduate of the Kerem Institute for Jewish-Humanistic Education, and the Ministry of Education course for school principals.  For six years she was the principal of the high school at the Aleh Raziel Youth Village, where during her tenure she raised the percentage of children receiving matriculation certificates from 56% to 90%, doubled the number of pupils, and diversified the student body by recruiting students from the periphery.  In addition to her current position, Ms. Alfasi serves as a mentor of new principals for the Ministry of Education.

Moshe Ben Shushan, CPA

Deputy Director General, Finance & Operations

Moshe holds a degree in economics and accounting from Haifa University and has been a CPA since 1999. His speciality is the economics and auditing of and  financial managment and budgeting for educational institutions.  Moshe has worked for a number of educational institutions, founded and managed the Tip for Education company which provides economic services for educational and other nonprofit organizations, and is experienced in the fields of employee relations and salaries as defined by public sector agreements.

Mr. Kali Beit On

Farm Coordinator

Mr. Kali Beit On, originally from Yerucham, assumed the position of Farm Coordinator in 2018. Previously he held the position of  Director of the Boarding School since 2009.  A graduate of Ben Shemen, Mr. Beit On has held a number of positions in the Village including Director of the Children’s Home, Junior High School Coordinator and Assistant Director of the Boarding School.  He holds a BA in Education and a Teaching Certificate from Seminar Hakibbutzim.  Mr. Beit On raised his family in the Village.

Hila Ben-Tzion

Director Treatment Unit

Hila Ben-Zion has worked as a psychologist at the Ben Shemen Youth Village since 1987, and since 2007 has directed the Treatment Unit. Hila attained her BA and MA in psychology from Tel Aviv University. Through Bar Ilan University she has attained certification in group facilitation and using the arts as a treatment method in school settings, through the Kibbutz Seminars she has attained certification in didactic testing and treatment, and in personal coaching, and through Natal she has been trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy. In addition to managing and training the Village's treatment staff, Hila also trains students who are specializing in different treatment methods.
